Dear foreigner visiting Vallarta. As many of you already know, this ''Puerto'' is just called by many a paradise in aspects including music, culture, the kindness of its people, and, of course, the food... OMG! Its meals are delicious, and there are many choices out there.
However, many times, and because of the lower immune system against many bacteria and parasites found here, (or Moctezuma's revenge, you decide what to choose) you would present diarrhea or even many times with food poisoning. When this happens, it is recommended to drink plenty of water, as well as try Pepto-Bismol or Kao pectate.
Also, be aware that as a recommendation, do not take Loperamide. This is a very well-known medicine used to decrease the frequency of diarrhea and is often used for some specific diseases, including IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME, INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE, and SHORT BOWEL SYNDROME. Note that it is not indicated for managing infectious diarrhea because it may cause bowel paralysis and worsen the signs and symptoms of infectious diarrhea or food poisoning.
So, if you have diarrhea, at first, try to drink enough fluids, electrolytes, and some over-the-counter medicines, and avoid LOPERAMIDE and related drugs. However, if the symptoms persist, please call a physician because dehydration is a hazardous complication of diarrhea, please don't let Moctezuma takes revenge on you. In a posterior recommendation, I will give you some red flags to be aware of dehydration, from mild to severe, that could threaten your life.
Y que viva Mexico cab…!!
